EpidemiologyLung cancer is the most common malignant tumor and the most common cause of cancer death in developed countries. According to the data of the International Cancer Research Institute, there are about 1 million new cases of lung cancer in the world every year, and 60% of cancer patients die of lung cancer.In Russia, lung cancer ranks the first among tumor diseases, accounting for 12% of this pathology, and is diagnosed as lung cancer in 15% of dead tumor patients. Men have a higher proportion of lung cancer. One in every four malignant tumors in men is lung cancer, and one in every twelve tumors in women is lung cancer. In 2000, lung cancer killed 32% of men and 7.2% of women were diagnosed with malignant tumors.
